Sandgerði School of Music

Sandgerði School of Music offers music education for all residents of Sandgerði from age 6. Instruments available for study are:

• Classical guitar
• Piano
• Flute
• Clarinet
• Trumpet
• Cornet
• Trombone
• Saxophone
• Ukulele
• Drums & percussion
• Electric guitar
• Electric bass
• Vocals, both classical and pop/jazz
• Music theory and music history

Each year, the school starts around August 20th and ends around the end of May the following year.

Ensembles and small orchestras are operating within the school, along with a choir for children up to age 16.

Tuition fees are ISK 82.000,- for full studies for a whole school year. Full studies include a weekly 60 min. private lesson (or two 30 min lessons) with a teacher along with music theory studies and ensemble participation.

Half studies are also an option for ISK 54.500,- for a whole school year. Half studies include a weekly 30 min. private lesson with a teacher along with music theory studies and ensemble participation.

Children up to 18 years old can reduce their tuition fees by using the so called „Frístundastyrkur“ which is a scholarship offered by the municipality to all children of Sandgerði up to age 18. Full scolarship reduces the tuition fees by ISK 44.000,- Tuition fees can be divided up to six payments.
We also offer family discount if more than one member of the same household studies at the school.

All teachers at the school are both highly educated and experienced professionals.

Music is an international language and knowledge of the Icelandic language is not a requirement for admission.
